Supply and return lines at an ice rink.
water with glycol system chilled to 19* and circulated under the rink. Kind of the opposite of in-floor heat if you will-
6" sch 80 PVC in the mech rm. 6" HDPE with fused joints under part of the building to the rink,wraped with insulation before backfilling. We then made a manifold the width of the rink. Manifold tubing @ 3" O.C. consisted of 26 miles of 1/2" poly. I learned a lot about ice rinks lately

What kind of machine do they have to provide the cooling?

Ever see a condenser room in a grocery store? Same kind of stuff. Also has a cooling tower outside and a huge dehumidifier for the rink itself. Have to keep the rink area defrosted. Condensate was dripping of the steel trusses and forming stalagmites on the ice surface
It's been a fun project, but really, it's just plumbing- only with bigger pipe.
