How to fix pool pump leak?

Water is coming out where the white pvc piping screws into the pool pump (off white).
Your guidance here is greatly appreciated!

Take it apart, clean the threads, put pipe dope on the threads, and put it back together.

Looks like who ever did that didn't plan ahead - you are going to have to cut it and put in a union?

In my opinion screwed plastic fittings should be illegal to make. If I had any money to bet my money would be on a cracked male screwed fitting, due to vibration, even though the female screwed fitting is often the culprit and it can be heard when it cracks.

That horizontal pipe section needs a rubber coupling of some type or hose to absorb pump vibration. Reassemble with Teflon tape in case you want to disassemble again in 20 years or less.

cut your pipe in the horizontal and unscrew from pump. Teflon tape the fitting then add a touch of pipe dope screw it into the pump and use a fernco as a coupling. Big rubber thing with 2 hose clamps. This will help against it vibrating and leaking again.

If I had to guess, this has happened before. Or else someone had too many couplings and not enough pipe. Cut, remove, inspect, replace whatever's broken and install a pressure rated rubber coupling as has been suggested when you put it back together.

That looks like a sealant...
It doesn't appear to be leaking from there.

FWIW, This pump appears to be too small 3/4hp for in-ground 15x30 w/built in spa plus it also appears to be on it's last leg. If you were considering replacing the pump, would you even bother with this repair?
