How do I replace the tub valves.

I want to upgrade my tub valves and faucet. How do I replace the valves on this tub? I don't not see a way to get to the valves. Picture of tub is on link:

What is on the OTHER side of the wall where the faucets are?
Ideally it's a closet.

Can't attach pic, exceeded the limit.

Sheet rock and a rafter is on the other side of the wall, that door leads to a closet. I thought the same thing about going in through other side of wall when the exterminator put a vent in the wall near the floor.

A rafter is what holds up the roof, how does that come into play with an inside wall?
He put a vent near the floor?
Unless you plan on a complete remodel in the tub area the valves comes out the back side.

There is a post in the wall behind the tub. There isn't a way to reach the valves from the back.

Two pieces of sheet rock and a post before I would reach/see the back of the tub were the valves are.

Are we talking about the hot/cold taps for the bath tub or the shower/tub control valve? That pic I asked for would really help us to help you as there are 1000's of different types of faucet.

If it's a shower/tub control valve that we are talking about then unless the existing one is a universal model for the particular make you have (ie. can replace just the faucet trim/handle part with something from the same manufacturer) then you need to open up the wall on the bathroom side if there is no access behind.

Go in there with a utility knife or keyhole saw.
Open up the sheet rock immediately behind the faucet.
Get to work on the plumbing.

Yep. That's what you have to work through/around.
Or the plumber you hire will have to.

I was hoping there would be another way. i was hoping that i would not have to go through that wall. but it looks like I have no choice.
