How do I remove this?

I am trying to connect an outdoor sink, but the previous owner of the house connected this garden hose faucet to the copper pipe. I would just leave as is and connect a hose to the sink, but the faucet leaks when it is on. How do I remove it so I can put on a standard angle stop valve?

Here is a photo:

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Dave

Have you tried tightening the nut I circled?

If that doesn't work, you should be able to take it apart and replace a washer or two. We can await experienced plumbers to share their expertise.

If you decide to remove that---drain piping---heat with a touch at the pipe/thread junction--remove when the solder melts.

If it starts to leak again then remove the nut and add some teflon packing string and tighten it up again.
