How do I measure PEX

Please bear with me as I am new to this handyman stuff. I am going to do some work with pex pipe, but first I need to figure out what size I currently have in my house. How do I go about determining this? Seriously, I cant even find the answer on google. Please help me before I start conjuring up conspiracy theories. Thank you for your assistance.

PS, also does anyone recommend the crimping tools off of ebay?

Where are you from?
How old is your current house?
Are you adding Pex, or replacing old with Pex?

Here is how to figure out the size of the existing piping.

Copper--1/2 " copper --outside dimension-5/8----3/4"---outside--7/8

Galvanized--1/2 outside=3/4"--------3/4" outside=1"

And the copper sizes listed above are the OD sizes for PEX and CPVC.

Any opinions on those mini PEX crimpers sold at Home Depot that utilize vice grips to do the crimping?

Ayuh,... Pex is sized by it's OD,... Unlike Pipe which is sized by ID...
