How Deep should it Go?

I am tying to screw a 3/4" threaded copper male nipple into a brass Kohler Thermal Expansion Valve.

I can thread it to the point where roughly 3 threads are still exposed until it gets extremely difficult to tighten. i have used the white teflon compound as thread sealant which does not harden.

I am wondering if it's good enough or if I have to ensure that all the female threads make contact with a male thread.
I

Welcome to DIY Chatroom

If you have doped the male threads (personally I dope & tape) you simply tighten until it's good and tight - about 7 threads should be buried in the female fitting. Sometimes a little less
The threads are a tapered pattern so eventually it will be tight. Call it good when that happens. Having left over threads exposed is normal
