hot water supply pipe route question


other than shut off All valves(hot and cold), and then drain. do i need to shut off or turn down the water heater when install new hot water pipes?

No, as long as the incoming water is shut off to the water heater.

hot water supply pipe route question


If you're draining the water heater (as it looks like you are) then YES, TURN OFF THE POWER.

i'm not draining the water heater. i need put a Tee in a hot water pipe down the line for a sink. so i like to know i should turn the heater off because once i shut off all the valve(both hot/cold valve from/to the heater) then would the heater continue heat the fix amount of water in the tank therefore create alot pressure ?? or heater will basically stop once the temperture in the heater reach certain degree? if its the latter case then i don't think i have to turn off the heater.

hot water supply pipe route question


If youre not draining the heater id just shut the cold water supply valve off going to the heater.
Turn the gas valve to pilot
