Hot water out of heater but no pressure to taps

Hi all,

I woke up this morning(-30C) to no hot water pressure out of any taps.

When I crack the hot water union at the top of the heater there is hot water. The cold water pressure seems to be good coming into the heater as well.

I am not sure the next step in troubleshooting is? Do I have to go under my modular and follow the hot water line to see where it stops? Is there a better way(inside warm house) to troubleshoot?

Any and all suggestions comments are most welcome! The sooner I can fix this the sooner I can get to work!

Thanks a lot!

It is definitely frozen or plugged somewhere down the line as I disconnected the hot coming out the heater and there is plenty of hot water pressure coming out into my bucket. So, I guess I better suit up and crawl underneath to see what is going on.

Sounds like a frozen pipe, for sure---If you must leave the house it would be a good idea to shut off the hot water feed line and turn the heater to 'pilot' while you are out---

I've seen some horrific messes when a broken fitting thawed out.--Mike--

A couple of 100 watt flood light or heat lamps in a clamp on holder in a sealed crawl usually thaws everything in less than 24 hours. leave all hot water faucets cracked open a little so you know when it opens up. Don't start no fires with the lamps. Listen for running water after the thaw that indicates a broken fitting or pipe

Finally had a good reason to get a good infrared heater so I bought one, and bought some safe for environment methanol. I cranked the heat, poured some methanol down the lines, and set the heater up under the trailer. And then went to get a Herman Nelson, but by the time I got back the methanol had dropped and broke the hydrate. Didn't even need the 165,000 BTUs!

Thanks again for chipping in oh'mike.
