The thermostats are flush against the tank and they are set to the same temp. The wiring is the same as the diagram sent to me and the tank is now working for 36 hours. The temp is set to 120. I had it on 135 , is that too hot? thanx

135 is fine mine is set at 150

How old is this unit? The reason I ask is that I have ran across this problem with some older units and found that there was slight rust at the point of contact between the thermostat and the tank itself. Just a light sanding to remove the rust coating so the thermostat could make better contact solved the problem. Hope this helps.
