No Expansion tank. When the hot water recirc pump is turned off the cold water pipe into the water heater does not get hot.

I've verified that it is NOT a single level shower and sink faucet. One shower has a stops on the valve body, and placed a rubber diaphragm between the cartridge and the valve body on the other two showers. Turned off the hot water stop to the 2 kitchen sinks single levers. How else can this be happening?

Do you have a faucet that has the handles left on all the time -such as a laundry sink or washing machine. If so turn them off and run test.

Has any plumber or anyone else done any work on water piping inside the walls or ceiling?

Do you have any tub/shower valves that are in the rough in stage and not completed?

Do you have any remote located thermo mixing valves?

The washing machine could be your culprit.

I close the washing machine hot water stop and hot in cold water faucets still occurs.

OK, so when all single lever shower and faucets hot water are stopped and the washing machine hot water is stopped and I turn the hot water recirc pump off after 4 hours, the cold water in the cold water faucets stays cold. Turn hot water recirc pump back on, and waiting 30 minutes hot in cold water faucets returns.

Must be that the always hot water in my hot water piping is warming up the cold water in the cold water piping by them being in close proximity to each other. Don't know how it could be anything else. During rough in of the house I did not see any hot and cold water lines touching. This is a concrete slab house with water lines run in/below the slab, with a 2nd story, hot water heater installed in attic.

Geeez, how do I install a COLD water recirc system? This is a new house I built, (completed 1 year ago) I am the builder. Should my plumber be responsible for this?

Thanks for coming back to help.
