Hot Water Boiler
I had a new hot water base board boiler installed about 10 yrs ago and I have a problem of air build up every year. About 9 years ago I put in a new expansion tank and that did not help. I have to bleed the air out in the winter about every 3 weeks or so. Someone said it could be my water make up value. So I lowered the boiler press to 10 psig and after 3 day the press was still 10 lbs. So the value is not leaking water. The make up value rating is 12 to 15 psig but the boiler is operating at 20 lbs just under the 25 lbs for the blow off. Any suggestions

Hot Water Boiler
Can you post pictures of all the near-boiler piping? Sounds to me like the installer did not put in an air scoop or Spirovent.

Hot Water Boiler
I have a hot water system with a spirovent and it still gets air in it. When I lived there about three months into the winter I would get a gurgle. I was told that since my home is three stories that the water pressure needed to fill the system all the way up exceeded the city pressure so would always have some residual air in it. If the water make up valve has failed the water isn't being replenished or topped off. Just isn't backflowing?
