HOT water on bathtub faucet not working??

In our bathtub if you turn the faucet to HOT the water shuts off...the cold runs fine but as soon as you turn past 1/2 way it shuts off....here is a video of what it is doing.

seem like either a valve is shut off..or the cartridge on the faucet may be clogged or defective...

tibasnatch 02-04-2012 05:42 PM

The valve like in the wall? and can the cartridge be cleaned/replaced easily or have to cut into wall?

thanks

if you look at faucet the white part behind the clip is the cartridge shut off water remove holding clip pull out cartridge clean out or replace....you may try with help blowing out line... thats the small part in the center where handle would go....

Ok...i turned off water and removed the clip but white cartridge isnt wanting to come out....should it slide forward and out?

yes it should it may be tight but it should come out....is that a moen if it is you may need to buy a puller.....Inever had too always just pulled it out...

tibasnatch 02-04-2012 06:14 PM

leverage is key ..I grip with vise grips then wedge against opening to pry out...be careful not to damage anything...if unsure home depot or lowes sells puller 10.00-15.00 dollars...

this looks to be the puller....should I go ahead and buy a cartridge too? are they universal or would i need a model number and stuff.

If you contact Moen they would send you one for free.
MY money goes on the antiscald valve is stuck from trash in the line inside the valve.

I have not done alot of work on moen but I think i would buy a cartridge while there can always return it ....would help if you had model ...take a good look at cartridge before you go ... its about 4" long...

Sounds like a good way to pull the stem right out the center of it,save yourself a lot of headaches and just buy a puller for it :)

Did you run the screw all the way out on the puller and crank the nut all the way back on puller before seating it against the cartridge?
they can be a pain sometimes if theyre stuck in there, the older brass ones can really suck sometimes! :(
