Hot water

My hot water in my upstairs master bath will not work?? It works every where else in the house kitchen, bathroom and tub! The cold works up but hot will not in the sink or tub!! Any advice??

Thanks

Do you have no water or is the water cold? Any details on the type of fixture that's in the bathroom?

Yeah I have cold water, but in the sink and tub when you turn the handle no water comes out. When I moved in the hit water handle was busted off and I just today replaced the tub faucets. The cold side comes out but none on the hot handle! The faucet I just put in is called Tuscany baldwell collection, that's all I know! But every where both hot and cold work fine!

If it's a sink and tub (2 fixtures), there's probably a shut off valve somewhere that is closed.

How long has this been going on? How old is house?

Like dj above suggested make sure there is not a hot water shutoff valve closed somewhere. Will go from there.

So there can be a shutoff between floors?? The first and second floor bathrooms are on top of each other. The house was built in 1915 and since I moved in about 2 months ago its been like this!

Very possible. Look under sinks and any access panels. Check your basement/crawlspace too.

Do you rent, own, or lease? Any mention about it from previous owner/renter when you moved in?

Nothing but the valves under the sinks and there open!!

I just read some of your other posts. Quite the plumbing at your house.

Run the hot water in your working faucets for a few minutes to get the pipes hot. Start at your hot water heater and follow the pipe. Look for valves and feel it to be sure it's hot. Try to track it where it goes up into the first floor and possibly where it goes to the 2nd from the 1st floor.

Ok I'll try that and see what I come up with!!

Thanks

I hate it when people do not disclose this kind of information when closing. They keep it hushed up and hope you don't notice it until after you sign.
