Hot Tub Leak

Hi All!
Ok here goes..We have used stop leak a couple of times and leaks have slowed but not stopped. Still losing a lot of water each day. We were told to pour a gallon of Portland Cement into the hut tub skimmer (without the filter)... let tub cycle a few times with jets on, drain completely and clean as you go, refill, and if necessary repeat...I can find nothing about anyone else doing this anywhere on the internet. Probably should take that as my answer but would love to hear your responses!
Thanks to all!!

Never heard of that remedy either. Have you try locating the source of the leak/leaks? Tub itself, pump, plumbing, etc. Try locating the source if you can and post a couple pics so we can give you better and more accurate advice. If your losing that much water each day, you should be able to have an idea where it's leaking from.

We got the tub used, probably freeze damage.. We have had it on end, picked all of the foam of out, repaired all of the leaks we could find with new parts etc. This would be a last ditch effort before we buy a new tub. Just wondered if anyone else had tried it or heard of it?

Sounds like a bad idea.

I wonder is the companys that sell tubs and pumps got together to post a suggestion like that.

Why dont you fill the lines with water with food coloring in them and pressurize the lines with air? Find the leak(s) and fix them properly. What AH told you to pour Portland into the skimmer? That's just idiotic.

Hot tub repair man we purchased a new lid from. He says he has been in the business of repairs and when there is no other hope but a total rebuild and the customer doesn't want to spend the cash, this is what he does as a last ditch effort and he swears it works! I guess we have nothing to lose because from here it will be scrapped anyway. I will post how it turns out!

No more leaky hot tub!

Well we got brave and tried the portland cement fix. What a mess to clean up! But after running, draining, cleaning, wiping out, and refilling 3 times, the tub hasn't leaked in 3 days. We did learn the hard way to be sure and take the jets out first :/ Those were a pain to clean but they did clean up fine in the kitchen sink with a tootbrush. I guess we will see how long it holds but amazingly so far so good! We were losing about 3-4 inches of water a day... Advice to anyone else.. be prepared to have a mess to clean up. Shop vac for the bottom worked well. Be sure and do it when you have time to thoroughly clean and refill so tub doesn't sit empty between refills for very long. It took us 2 evenings to complete.
