high loop going in to air gap? sink leaks

Air gap discharges water every time the dishwasher drains. Some of the water goes behind the sink. and eventually leaks out from side. The waste line goes out of the dishwasher, in to high loop, that goes in to air gap. Also, there is a large dip from air gap to garbage disposal.

What should I do?

Remove air gap, replace the line with standard waste line, and cap hole?

1. Do you run the disposal everytime before you use your dishwasher? If not, food particles could be clogging the disposal and not allowing proper drainage.

2. Is that a new disposal? (looks new) If yes, did the installer punch out the metal disc to allow water from the airgap into the disposal? Are there any kinks in the hose to the disposal?

Here's one of the funniest videos I've ever seen on youtube. It deals with an overflowing airgap so is appropriate to your problem. After the fun, it gets serious so watch the whole video.

The garbage disposer is about 4 years old. The dishwasher is about a year old. Approx. 12ozs of water leaks each time the dishwasher is run. Do you think the high loop going to airgap is the cause?

Pull the cover off the air gap and inspect it for blockage
Also, You should probably shorten the hose going to the disposal. It shouldn't have that sag in it.
