Default Help removing handle from sink faucet

OK, I've seen a lot of faucets in my life but I can't for the life of me figure this one out...

I'm trying to get to the valve stem to rebuild it, but I can't get the grooved ring off. It seems to be connected to the valve stem. In the last picture you can see how it normally looks with the decorative handle.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

So the center of the handle puller will go into that small hole in the middle? It's only about .125".

Keep in mind that the small hole is actually threaded to receive the screw that holds the actual handle (see last pic).

thanks!

Yes that's correct it goes directly in the screw hole

Bought one and tried it. The pin in the middle isn't long enough to make contact with anything.

Wouldn't there have to be some sort of screw or retainer to hole the "sleeve" down onto the stem?

Any more suggestions?

i'd think there'd be a set screw under the edge somewheres. that's a curious setup i've not seen before.
maybe it's a push clip that just needs a coat hangar down the center hole? hehehe idunno, please let us know how it finally comes off, ok? (for possible future reference)

thanks

I'll definitely let you know when (if?) I'm finally able to take it off.

I've looked for a set screw but couldn't find anything alone the base or under it.

you know what? i bet it's just sitting on there.... look carefully down the center, if there is a separation between the hole and the threads are further down, grab a flathead screwdriver and slip it under the edge and gently try to pry it off. i bet it pops right up.....

I'd agree that the chrome piece is just siezed onto the splines on the valve stem. Might try prying it between the beauty ring and the chrome portion of the handle with a flat bar, turning it slightly with each nudge till it pops off.

If the puller will not work try using some type of rust spray and maybe two flat srew drivers under it and prise it up. It has to be just siezed on the stem
