help re-installing shower head 1/2" pipe extension

So in our apartment/condo, I'd bought a showerhead extension to raise the height of the head. Been here before, pretty simple (so I thought this time). Unscrewed the showerhead/pipe combo. Teflon'd the end of the extension (s-pipe), screwed it in. However, forgot to put the flange on beforehand (of course). Long story short, in unscrewing this, it wasn't actually unscrewing the pipe but along with it came a 1/2" pipe extension, about an inch long. Now, I figure I need to seal up this extension's threads, but of course can't reach the threads inside the shower's hole in order to do so. Any recommendations on how to seal this up? Don't want to be causing leaks...

If this is all confusing, I can take some pics and just attach those.

Thanks ahead of time for the help!

You can add thread sealant to either part of the joint, male or female. I prefer to use teflon paste, but tape is fine too. The extension is threaded also, is it not?? Just apply sealant to the threads, and make sure everything is tight.

I ended up wrapping the tape in reverse around the end of a rounded philips screwdriver. Was then able to hold the end of the tape against the hidden male pipe threads thru the hole with one finger and slowly, but applying good tension, wrap them up by de-raveling this tape. I thought I might have to resort to the paste as well, just didn't have any on hand. The 1-inch extension is female both sides, so yes, would've applied the teflon paste to that had I not been able to wrap that hidden pipe.

Thanks for the advice!
