Help Needed

I am a newbie on here and a very UNhandyman. Here's what I want to do. I want to install some shut off valves under my bathroom sink as there are none. If I cut off the old connection, it would only leave about an inch of the copper pipe left. Is that enough room for a compression fitting? If not, is it possible to sweat on some sore of connection and then add more length of copper pipe? I was thinking it would LOOK like a PVC connector that is bigger than the pipes and both pipes fit into it. Only these would be of copper.

HI and welcome to the forum.

I BELIEVE a "sharkbite" fitting will work in your case. I could be wrong though, considering you only have an inch to work with.

If you could post a pic that 'll give us a better idea of what you're dealing with.
