help with leaking pvc water line

We developed a leak in our pvc water line. My husband has tried to repair it following all instructions he has read, plus he has done this type of repair before. This time though despite letting the glue set for longer than usual(the last time for almost 24 hours) when the main valve is turned back on the joint blows out. Any ideas? We are really in a major bind.

help with leaking pvc water line

A couple things

Are you getting the joints clean and dry?

How old is the glue?

There is a product called Rain N Shine works well if moisture is an issue.

help with leaking pvc water line

You want to use cpvc cement for drinking water lines not rain or shine or pvc glue. Thats if your lines are cpvc like they should be.
You cant drink the water in all pvc pipes.
