help with bathroom venting fan

For about 3 weeks the bathroom vent fan in our bathroom has been "leaking". At first my oldest son who is 17 thought it was from condensation. But, over time the area of ceiling aroung the fan has started turning a "moldy" color. And I poked it with a yard stick and a very small part fell thru. How do I fix this.??? This is a rented house and the landlord has mentioned that maybe some of his relatives might like to move here soon. But we are not ready to move as my oldest son is a junior in highschool

What are your suggesgtions? Could there be a leak from the roof???? Help.

Thanks,
fonda:eek:

Yes, there could be. Get the landlord to have someone look at it.:)

Sounds like moisture to me. Have you checked the outside vent for possible squirrels or birds? If parts are falling off, it's overhaul time anyway. Call the landlord.
