Hello

On a new house being built, could anyone here tell me who is responsible for running water service, sewer and gas into the house from the street. Gas and water company? Or is that plumbers responsibility? Or does the plumber work on everything after it is run to the house. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello

It all depends on the municipality or company involved.

In my area the city requires a bonded plumber to make both the water and sewer connections. A permit needs to be pulled for both installations as they are separate departments in the city. They dictate where to make the connections. The gas company will supply the meeter bracket with detailed instructions on where to place it (they will work with you on this). all gas lines need to be installed & pressure tested (they must witness the test for 15 min) and then they will make the connection. This process needs to be scheduled with them.

Hello

Where I lived the city only took care of the lines running down the street. Anything on your property was your responsibility. (meaning use a licensed contractor if you're not doing the work yourself.) Don't forget permits.
