Needlenose pliers?
Slice the hairs with a utility knife then flush them down?

I've used the needle-nosed pliers. Just put a couple of paper towels in the bath tub to put the collection on.

Then I suggest pouring some baking soda in the drain followed by a cup or two of vinegar to clean the drain out and freshen it up.

I used a coat hanger with a little hook bent on the end. Apparently, the previous owner had some long hair and a shedding problem.

Remove overflow plate
If it's an older style tub like mine, you can remove the two screws from the overflow plate. Attached to the plate is the lever to switch from tub to shower. Gently pull the plate away from the tub and pull up on the rod that is attached to the plate and lever. The rod goes down to the drain and has a curly springlike piece attached to it. That curly piece is what collects the hair. Clean it and put it back in the same way it came out. This should be done at least twice a year, depending on how many people are in your family.
Good Luck
