Gurgling Toilet

Hi All,

We've just finished an extension that has included an ensuite. For a couple of months I've had the toilet and shower installed with everything working fine. Yesterday I installed the vanity and two basins to the ensuite and now the shower and toilet are gurgling if the basin or toilet is used (haven't been game to use shower yet). Funnily enough the rest of the house is working fine. The extension piping was completed by a licenced plumber and it connects back into existing piping. House is single storey. I guess there is an air lock between new extension and existing pipework but not sure what to do. any help would be appreciated.

Gurgling Toilet

Run some water in all the drains so the traps can fill up with water.

Gurgling Toilet

Since a plumber did your rough in- call him back. The cure may be obvious and simple to him

Sounds like a venting (or lack there of) problem to me. I would call the plumber back, when he roughed in the bathroom, he should've added a vent stack for that set of fixtures, unless they are within the proper distance from the other stack
