Getting rid of hardened salt from brine tank

I am in the process of getting rid of a water softener brine tank that hasn't been used in many years.
The thing is too darn heavy to haul out for collection because it's about 1/3rd full of hardened dry salt. I've tried chipping with a spade shovel to loosen as much salt as possible to scoop out. However what remains is hard as solid rock.

Does anyone have a good, fast method of breaking up or dissolving the salt for complete removal from the tank?
Thanks!

Add water to above salt deposit. It'll dissolve, then bail it out till you can move it.

Ok, tap water hosed in and has been soaking the salt overnight already. Not much if anything has dissolved... will something like this take weeks to break down?

i would think very hot water would work the best, maybe just a little bit and then try to break it up with the help of the hot water. as you break it up it will start to dissolve. then suck it out and repeat. you may need something heavier duty like one of those heavy weight tile removal spades to help chip it out.
