Gauge of stainless steel sink

I'm getting ready to order a stainless steel kitchen sink that will be mounted under a granite counter top. What is a good gauge of stainless steel to select? I'm getting tight on money, but don't want to buy a cheap sink that won't hold up well.

The lower the number, the thicker the material.

Stainless can scratch and with a mirror finish those scratches will show. Do not purchase any brand mirror finished stainless sink, no matter if the price sounds great or what the quality is on it.

Thanks for the advice! No mirror finish on the sink. Got it! (I'm just now getting around to ordering the sink! I'm only at the insulation stage of the building project.)
