gas water heater wont light

Hi, I have a AO smith Promax 92111829000.. It wont light. I ordered a HSI Assembly.
Can I light it manually, until the parts arrive? If yes, how do I do it?
Thank you

what's it doing or not doing is it not lighting or not staying lit. is the electrode sparking at all. it's not often that iv'e had to replace that usually it's the pilot assembly or the thermocoupler some units have when the thermocouple fail there is a built in or inline varistor i think that what it is i will put in the pilot assembly i have cut the varistor and install a therocouple but i don't recommend doing it and i'm sure it voids the warranty and it has worked and not worked. do you have thermal cut off switch? if so check
