gas water heater connected to central air/heater?

Whenever I change the temp on central heating, a clicking noise can be heard from my gas water heater. Could there be some connection? I dont see any, but need to replace my water heater soon and want to make sure. Thanks very much for all help and advice.

gas water heater connected to central air/heater?

Do they have motorized chimney dampers used to reduce warmer interior air going up the chimney? Perhaps there is only one circuit that opens both the water heater damper and the furnace damper at the same time when either needs them open.

could be the furnace flue heat warming up the HWH metal flue pipe and it clicks and expands the only common item should be the gas piping tee off.
