Gas reducer fitting

Was force to go to lowes to get a 1/2 female to 3/8 male reducer in order to adapt natural gas to my grill. The hose from the grill screws into the 3/8 male thread and the 1/2 female would screw into natural gas coming from house. The reducer seems cheap, actually same material as the end of a garden hose. I installed this reducer an no leaks detected. My question is, should I install a cast iron reducer? Just not sure if the piece I install will do? Thank you all in advance!!

Did it say if it was gas approved on the packaging? You could use a black iron bell reducer.
Can you upload a picture? Perhaps someone can verify its use.

Can not be a bushing must be a bell, and not that Sh%t from china.

Did not say any on packaging, just said it was a reducer. At this point, I just want to have the right piece.

Without a picture or a web site how would we know what you have.
It should have looked like this or black iron, no galvinized.

Also needed yellow pipe tape or gas approved pipe dope.

Do you have a valve out there as well?

er78mph 02-25-2013 08:34 AM

joecaption 02-25-2013 10:37 AM

That's fine.
There is a flex line from the fitting to the grill, right?

er78mph 02-25-2013 10:46 AM

Not a flex line Joe but a natural gas hose from conversion kit that I bought. Thanks again!!
