Gas pipe in Garage
I need to run a new gas pipe to install a tank-less water heater. There is a 3/4" pipe there now that is 24" off the floor, but I need to upgrade to 1 1/4" pipe. The pipe will need to run across the wall opposite the garage door entrance. If I run the pipe up high along the header will I have to install safety posts to meet code?

I'm assuming you've looked at the code since you're asking this question. It seems to me that if it's not in an area where it could be damaged by a vehicle, it would be just fine. The code is open to interpretation by the inspector though. You might be better off asking him what he wants you to do.

I would say if it was higher than the garage door you should be all set.
No additional protection needed. |
