gas hot water tank

Im having a promlem getting an A O Smith gas hot water tank to relight . I have replaced thermol couple and after doing so it cycled thru once by heating up water. But then after water was hot the burner shut off and so did the pilot. I was only able to get the pilot to light only when holding the red pilot light button b ut as soon as i let go the pilot goes back out . I have cheked the fresh air intake in the bottom of tank and that is clean . Was wondering if the FVIR sensor was bad and if so how to test it ?

Does this tank have flame quard technology? Does it have a limit switch connected to the inner door that is wired to the gas valve? If so then it has a tiny reset bar in the middle of that limit switch that needs to be pressed back in to relit it.
