Which Gas Hot Water Heater

One last thing to check before calling the Company for service if you haven't already.

Where is the thermostat set on the HWH?

Is the water really scalding and coming out this hot??

If it is lower the thermostat to give you about 120 130 DEG water if you can live with it.

The thermo is set on the lowest setting. The water temp is fine. Service tech is coming out this afternoon to check it out.

The tech came out today to install the expansion tank...$150 later. The hot water heater cost me more than I initially thought after factoring in the expansion tank. I just can't figure out why now and not with the old unit? Oh well.

At least you have a new HWH and it should give you many years of HW.

I can't figure that out either unless he installed a check valve in the cold water supply line.

It's always something. $$$$$$

Yep, it's always something. The $150 spread out over so many years is no big deal. I wish the tech would of placed the expansion tank closer to the HWH. It's not quite in the middle of the basement, but maybe in the way whenever I decided to finish my basement.

Most of the time they are installed near the main where it enters the house.

The expansion tank is actually closer to the HWH than the main. Maybe the tech thought that was the best spot for it? I will eventually finish the basement and it could be in the way of a drop ceiling. It's kind of off to the side of the main basemen area.
