Garbage Disposal (I think this is plumbing category)

In this new house the G.D. doesn't work. (2 inspectors tested it)

I was going to buy one at the home supply store but just read that you shouldn't have one that's too heavy for a cheap stainless steel sink or there will be a vibration when you run the G.D.

The sink looks like an ordinary sink to me. I know since I'm on septic to get a G.D. that grinds things well.

What horsepower do I want? 3 or 2.5 or what?

In the past I just bought the biggest one.

thanks for the link. I'll call the Septic inspector, who's been in the business for 45 years. This is one thing we didn't talk about.

This is my first Septic experience and the entire city is on Septic. At first it sounded like a PIA, but everyone's convinced me it's no trouble and I should be glad I don't have to pay city sewer fees.

I'm just a tiny bit leery of them.

look at it this way you used to pay sewer bill monthly and now you will pay for it 5 up to 20 years at one time do the math. which one is cheaper depends on septic system and how it is maintained
