Garage Drain Cover

When I purchased my house, there was no drain cover in the garage. I want to place a cover/grate over it to prevent rocks or other objects from falling in the drain. The problem is, I can't find a cover in the size needed. The drain itself is 2.25". The circle around the drain is 5.25". The concrete is cut to slope in a 9"x9" square around the drain. I did find a 5.25" cast iron cover, but it was $50 something and I don't really see how to keep it up.

The second picture is with a 4" drain/grate cover purchased from Lowes put in the hole.


The height fits correctly. Could I somehow build the drain up with concrete so it'll fit the 4" cover? I plan on epoxying my floor next week, so I can't use regular concrete that needs awhile to cure.

You can use any Portland cement patching compound to trowel-in some repairs and still epoxy whenever. The patch will easily dry suitably over night I'm sure.

I don't know about overnight, as there really can't be any excess moisture for the epoxy to adhere decent, but I think a week would be OK fro such a small patch.

Thickness required is minimal.
Existing concrete will wick some of the moisture.
I'll agree a week may be better but I have made any number of patches that would easily take waterproofing the next day without issue. I realize epoxy is different but still I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks for the info. I may do the patching after the epoxy. There is only .75 inches of thickness needed on all sides and I don't think it'll be noticeable without being epoxied.
