FYI clogged drains

Just a helpful FYI if you have clogged bathroom drains. I bought a tool called a Zip-It at Home Depot and it works great!! It's a long serated piece of plastic (kinda looks like the zip-ties you get with trash bags only much longer) that you shove down the drain. It pulls up all kinds of hair and crud. Best part is it's only about $2!!

Hair and grease/oil are the biggest part of drain clogs in the bathroom. The grease/oil comes from the dissolved soap and shampoo. I have heard others praise the Zip-it tool. Probably a lot more effective than a bent coat hanger.

I use enzyme drain cleaner, like DrainCare, that just dissolves all of that gunk and then is flushed down with hot water.
You can get the worst out with a mechanical device like that, but DrainCare cleans it all out to the bare pipe and won't harm the pipe or the tub.

I got wrapped up in the tool thing and forgot about drain cleaners. I agree with Mike (as usual) about Draincare. Caustic drain cleaners make a small hole and then run down the pipes to the sewer. Enzyme cleaners cling to and "eat" organic clogs.
