I believe a customer of mine has a frozen drain pipe and need suggestions as to the best way to fix the issue. It is a 4" pipe, underground, that runs from the house to a septic system, about 250 feet. I'm not sure where the blockage is but fluids have backed up into the house (a little bit). Any suggestions would be appreciated.
If it is indeed frozen then you have not choice but to melt it.
The fastest way is to call in someone who can put a hose down the drain all the way to the blockage and pump in live steam.
When cleaning anything including baby diapers, it is better to sweep off or scrape off as much solid and semisolid material as you can first. (1) Less cleaning fluid or detergent needs to be used, (2) Less of a mushy mess which in turn means that bleaches or disinfectants will be more effective.
