frost free outdoor faucet question

I have one that works, accept when I use it ,water squirts all over the place. a careful inspection led me to see that the male threads, where you attach the hose are lacking in two areas opposite each other. Naturally, the water has a way to escape in those to areas. This faucet is about 20 years old.

Is this a deliberate design, meant to prevent the freeze ups or would i be able to replace it and enjoy a squirt free experience, esp when I turn off the water and undo the hose? thank you for anyone who can answer! roberta-mos

A picture would help but if the part where the hose contacts the bibb is flat it should seal even it the threads are missing. Some are squared off to accept a wrench. Could it be the hose washer is bad or missing?

sorry, I should have mentioned that I replaced the washers at the time, thinking , huh, I can fix this! The male threaded part looks like it is not part of the faucet, but, although it easily goes around, is not removable. roberta

THAT IS A ANTI-SIPON DESIGNED TO KEEP YOUR HOSE FROM SUCKING
UP BAD THINGS OFF YOUR YARD LIKE DOGGY POO, OR PESTICIDES
WHEN YOU LEAVE THE HOSE ON THE GROUND RUNNING,

IF IT'S SQURTING WATER YOU NEED TO REPLACE HOSE BIB WITH A NEW FAUCET THAT ALSO HAS A/S ON IT THEY ARE MADE TO BE NON--REMOVABLE ON PURPOSE
