freezing pipes

this is a temporary situation, but still for AT LEAST 1 winter! I have this new adition. the entire ground floor is a large 80 x 25 garage, then all living quarters on 2nd story. I need IN asap, even though it is just a shell... so.. on the plumbing end.. I am gonna run pex. fom a heated space.. through the wall., which will inturn put me at mid height level of this garage. then up along the ceiling, (or floor joists) to the back of the bldg, where I am gonna insulate and dwell for the time being. delima.. so far, it hasn't gotten FREEZING in the garage, but I am wondering.? It is a LONG WAY to heat tape, I was gonna insulate the floor joists, I could run it IN the joists as they go opposite way( not like a chase/ run) so I could do like they do electric, and drill holes through, run the lines and THEN insulate. OR.. will that be enough? I am not ready to insulate the walls of the garage yet, (no electric run etc) but do you think if I did, that may be the deciding freeze factor> I could always pull out the insulation late to wire, I guess. just trying to think of the best way. ideas are good! thanx for 'em! dan
