Floor Regrade

My daughter picked up a food store locally, national chain but a franchise store. She is a regional surpervisor and has several stores for this franchise. They recently purchased this store from a different franchise. During a health inspection, the inspector told her the floor needed regraded in order to allow proper drainage for one of the floor drains. The floor is cement with tile. The store is almost 25 yrs old.

He gave her 30 days to complete this or they will shut down the store. It amazes me that the health dept can do this after 25 yrs and after the inspection dept approved the construction.

Who could fix something like this? I suspect the floor needs to be cut, broken up, re-poured after the drain is lowered. Then new tile will need to be put back in place.

Floor Regrade

I"d try a flooring contractor for commercial spaces.

Floor Regrade

I would split it into two operations and get people that specialize in each.

First a concrete specialist, then a tile installation specialist.

Don't forget the plumber to lower the drains

How 'bout we refer to it as a "drain waste vent specialist"

Floor Regrade

Thanks for the replies. I think I will recommend she go the 3 specialist route. Get someone in there to regrade the floor, also pull in a plumber to lower the drain, then get someone in who can do the tile. The tile will be difficult since it is 6" square red tile, not available from what I have seen.
