WHICH floor drain for second floor laundry room??
 

I'm hoping I will never get a flood in my new laundry room and will be using a new washer and the most burst-proof hoses I can find, but... just in case, I'm tiling and epoxy grouting the whole room and plan to put a drain in the floor.

But all I see are shower drains, either designed for thin shower bases (my plywood is 1 1/2" thick, so can't tighten the nut on it to hold it securely) or else designed for a shower pan with liner.

I just want a 2" solvent weld drain that can be firmly attached to the floor - square would be nice tile-wise.

Any ideas?

unless you have a curb along the doorway the water is gonna run down the hallway anyway. try a pan under the washer with a kitchen sink basket strainer in the bottom hooked up with 1-1/2 inch pipe piped to your overhang.

I've planned a curb already, and I have 2" abs mapped out going from the tentative drain location to the basement stationary tub.

Looked into washer pans already - they only catch washer-specific leaks, and where they'd drain is the one spot I can't get to from below.

Floor drains in second floor laundys are required by code in this area---

A standard floor drain with an adjustable cover works well---have you gone to a plumbing supply store yet?

Painting the backer with Hydroban or Aqua Defense---and using that to seal the drain to the backer--will give you a water proof floor under the tile---
