Flood proofing Water Softener Supply

I have heard mention of a floodsafe device installed in line for a water softener supply line. I have a GE softener which is apparently prone to resin tank failure, causing possible floods.
Can anyone tell me about these flood proofing items, ie are they a valve or a flex hose or what?. I have the braided version for my dishwasher and laundry but can't seem toi loacte the softener version
