Flexible Copper Gas Line to Grill

Wanted to know whether this type of copper gas line installation to the exterior grill is safe and meets code. I was concerned about the corrosive effects of the natural gas and/or soil on the copper tubing.

The answer to your question is maybe but closer to no. and by the way that copper going through the wall in the picture is not to code.

Now they use a yellow PVC coating on the copper when it runs under ground.
Your going to need a real flex line from the shut off valve to the grill.

I assumed that, but hereís the thing just because it was done like that 40 years ago doesnít clear you of any problems. The codes have been upgraded from trial and error and incidents. That gas line going through the block was ok 40 years ago, but what we have learned over the years is that copper in contact we different materials one plaster/cement/mason /corrodes the copper. you may pull that line from your wall and itís in perfect condition, but in another case it could be corroded, imagine a leaking gas line in the block sealed with calking, check it if the copper is good just make the hole a little bigger and put a piece of pvc pipe around it as a protected sleeve then seal booth ends, just a safety issue
