Flammable vapor sensors on a.o.smith gas water heaters

Mine was accidentally exposed to bug spray in the boiler room.
are these meant to be re- used or do they need to be replaced after 1 exposure? Can it be cleaned in solvent?
Thanks in advance for your advice.
