fitting a water tap

I have gas heating and wish to shut off my water supply to fit an outside water tap.
Do I close off water supply coming into the pressered gas boiler or do I just turn off the stop cock under my sink.
Will I have to drain my complete system

Simply turn off the water coming into the house---no need to drain the boiler--

drain the house pipes by opening all sink faucets.

Move the hose bib and turn on the water again--then close all the sink faucets.
