Finishing Upstairs Bonus Room

Hello...

I am finishing the upstairs bonus room (which was just framing) and am planning on adding a new bathroom. I will have a toilet and a pedestal type sink, no shower. I have severala questions:

1. New toilet and sink drain - is my best bet to come down through the second floor and first floor to my crawl space and tie into my existing sanitary drain?

2. Can these two drains run together? and can these be vented together?

3. Regarding the new vent, what size should the vent be for the toilet and sink? The toilet floor drain should be 3" correct? The sink drain should be 1 1/2" or 2"...?

Last question - what is the easiest way to run new hot and cold water to the upstairs? Can I tap into the hot and cold sides of my water heater, right at the WH?

Thanks so much for any comments and/or suggestions...

Scott

1. That is the way I would do it, without being there and seeing the layout.

2. Yes

3. Toilet will be 3" and sink can be 1-1/2 but we always run sinks at 2", vents are min here 2" for toilet and 1-1/2" for sink.

4. Yes tap in at water heater area and run to next floor from there.

Finishing Upstairs Bonus Room

I currently have all copper installed in my house. I am finishing the upstairs and I am adding a half bath (toilet and sink). The water heater is located in the garage.

My question is this, can I tap off of the hot and cold lines that are at the top of the water heater and run up the wall and through the ceiling to my upstairs? Can I do this with a tee of some sort that will allow me to go from copper to PEX?

Thanks...

Scott

Thanks Ron...

Is there a tee type connector that I can cut my existing copper lines and insert this tee so that I can run PEX off of it? Whats the easiest way to go from copper to PEX?

Use a fitting called a Sharkbite, get a tee, this is the no brainer fittiing, slips onto the copper and you can take off with pex from it.
