Ferrule fitting wont come off

I got a hot water supply under the Kitchen sink. The Ferrule fitting on a 1/2 copper line, will not come off, I used WD-40 and no luck. It slides around about an 1 in. thats it.

Any ideas?
Please help.

I could, but water keeps dripping out even though I shut off the main valve.

Your main valve mabe bypassing a little . Or, it could be just what's left in the lines.. They can be difficult to get off . But they will come off. I've had to file some off

Ferrule fitting wont come off

If you're talking about a brass ferrule for a compression fitting, I'm surprised it moves even an inch. Once the compression nut is tightened the ferrule bites into the pipe forming a watertight seal. Though I've heard they make ferrule pullers, I've never seen one for sale or it would be on my truck right now. What I usually do is use a hacksaw blade and cut through the ferrule being careful not to cut the copper tubing. After I have the cut, I use a screwdriver to pry the ferrule apart.

Ferrule fitting wont come off

I ended up just re-using the ferrule fitting again since I couldnt get it off. Since water was coming through the threaded fitting, I just applied plumbers tape (5 revolations) and plenty of muscle to make sure the fitting was secure. No leaks. Jeez what a chore this was for a simple Kitchen Faucet switchout.

My only other option would of been, was too cut off some pipe, remove the fitting and re-solder an extension to it, because there's really no room if I just cut it off. Whatever saves me a trip to the store, I just re-used it.

Thanks for the help.
