Faucets - Reduced Water Flow
Can someone tell me why I experience water flow reduction (H & C) with my kitchen faucets?

To correct it I just turn it off and start again. After a couple of times I have full flow again for about 3 minutes. It's a large city single family dwelling with the pipes and water heater in the basement. No other faucets are running. All other faucets in the house do not have the problem. Just the kitchen, which uses a 12 year old Delta set with a single handle faucet control. Thanks.

Check the aerator first, try running the faucet a few minutes without the aerator on. If that fails their is probably something in the cartridge. It's unlikely to be something in your pipes since it's both hot and cold experiencing the problem.

Thanks Marlin. The aerator and screen are clean. I've ran it with both removed and it still happens. So it may very well be the cartridge which I will then have to replace. Now my wife will be happy cause she will now tell me to replace the entire faucet set since she's tired of this thing, even if replacing the cartridge is much cheaper. Thanks again.

Might just be your diverter. Is this your faucet?

Delta 400 Series faucet.

Wild guess here. Is your faucet handle a bit floppy? The weight of the lever may be causing the ball to slip and cut down the water flow.

Perhaps the ivory plastic retaining ring that's beneath the handle and that applies pressure onto the plastic/rubber ball seal is too loose. With the cheapo Delta tool that comes in every parts kit, try to turn it and snug it up a bit. Also, if things are worn out, just buy a kit to overhaul it.

Thanks y'all. Double A, yes, it's my faucet. I will check out the diverter and thanks for the link: it's the appropriate one. End Grain, no the handle isn't floppy but I will check it out anyhow when I open it up to check the diverter. I may as well get the parts kit with the tool and replace some of the innards. Thanks.
