Exterior Vent Pipe Cover?

Hello and thank you for the great forum. I had a quick question regarding a few of my exterior vent pipes in the roof (e.g., radon pipe, bathroom vent etc) which are not covered with wire mesh or something to block animals from going in. May be I am being paranoid but my plumber and HVAC guy think I don't need them and in fact may cause issues with ice build up in Chicago.

Your thoughts?

Here is the cover I was thinking:

Exterior Vent Pipe Cover?

air from vents is room temp so shouldn't pose a problem as far as snow/ice are concerned and even if it did...easy to remove....

Exterior Vent Pipe Cover?

Thank you. I would prefer not to have any build up if at all possible so is the answer NOT to have a cover?

LOL - I guess that's all the reassurance I need. I got the same reaction from the pro's and I knew I was being an idiot...
