Extension Toilet WaxRing question regarding depth

Hi,

I just installed new 1/2" subfloor(over existing 3/4" subfloor), ditra, and tile in one of our bathrooms. The toilet flange is now just under 3/4" below the tile now.

HD suggested I use this product: http://www.homedepot.ca/product/1-2-...25-pack/954469

I wanted to check with you guys to see if that alone would be sufficient for the gap? Or would have to put a flange extender (or two) before using the aforementioned product?

I've checked the box but it does provide any details - also have contacted the company and have yet to hear back.

Thanks,
Shannon

Extension Toilet WaxRing question regarding depth

How deep is the top of the flange below the floor? How high from the base of the toilet to the contact surface?

If the two numbers added together are less than the height of the wax ring you should be fine.

I would probably take a standard all wax ring----pack that on top if the flange carefully---set the extender ring on top of that--then set the toilet----

I'd need to see the opening and the bottom of the toilet to know for sure-----

A flange extender is a good option---but seldom needed for the height difference you described.

As long as the toilet is working correctly it should work. If you have to use a plunger or closet auger there is a chance of failure.

Sorry about the size of the photos....didn't get a chance to resize them beforehand...Still have to clean off the old wax ring before installing.

Your choice-----flange extender and standard ring----or doubled wax ring----either will be successful----be sure you get extra long bolts---

I'd do a doubled ring----one all wax-pressed firmly onto the flange---one extender ring pressed on top of that---

but you must use what you choose.
