We have a clawfoot tub and want to install a shower however the plumbing (faucets & drain) are at the end of the tub that has no wall. How can we secure the riser without a wall to mount it to. We did put up a shower surround for the curtain...can we clamp it to that somehow?
Typically, the tub/shower conversion kit for clawfoot tubs will come complete with all the hardware necessary to hang the curtain ring from the wall and/or ceiling, AND secure the shower riser to the curtain ring. I don't know of anybody that sells just the piece you're looking for. Try calling the manufacturer of the curtain ring you installed and see if they have anything they can send you. You can also google "decorative pipe clamps" or something and see what you find. Lastly, there are pipe clamps available that are rather industrial-looking (and inexpensive) that may work if you're not too picky about how it looks; they're called F&M Rings and they come in a variety of sizes and materials. You can join two together with a short piece of 3/8" threaded rod - one to secure to the curtain ring, and the other to hold the riser. Some are made of galvanized steel, and some are solid brass (DON'T use the copper coated - they'll rust fairly quickly)
