Exposed bathroom plumbing?
Hi there,

My husband and I just moved into a new (older) home. In the bathroom (in a closet) there is exposed plumbing - it's from the bathtub.

My guess is that it needs to be accessible? How can I cover it to allow access in the future if need be?

Here are some pics
Thanks so much in advance

Its normal to have access to the back side of the plumbing in a closet etc.

Most are just framed in with some trim and a panel with a few screws to access as needed.

Cut a piece of 1/2 drywall that is wider then the opening. Paint it if you like and then just use drywall screws to hold it in place. If access is later needed then just remove the drywall screws.

The shut-off handles are protruding out from the flush wall level, so you will have to construct a small box deep enough to hide the handles that you can screw to the wall with small L-shaped brackets. You can paint it white, if you choose.
Good Luck!

The chances of ever having to access that area again is slim. If you need to replace the trip lever setup and or drain chances are you'll have to open the ceiling below which will give you plenty of room to work in. If you need to change the shower body you'll have to open above it, it doesn't look like it's accessible through that hole. I'd just loose those valves or re-locate them to the basement/crawlspace and close the wall up.

If you want to leave it open I'd loose the gate valves and install 1/4 turn valves facing in. Then just make a nice little panel.

Marlin actually has the best idea for this situation.
That's what I would do myself, but I didn't know your plumbing skill level.
